What this site publishes about people
This is a register of businesses, but it names people: L&I publishes the principals of every registered contractor, and 33,164 of these registrations are sole traders trading under their own name.
Two rules follow, and they are enforced in the code rather than left to care:
- No page that a search engine can read carries a street address, a postcode or a phone number. All three are in the source. The city is the finest location we publish.
- There is no page for any person. The link between a
principal and the businesses they appear in is the most useful thing in this
data — and turning it into indexable pages would build a “name →
businesses” directory that the source does not make searchable that way.
It appears only on a business entry, which is rendered in your browser from the
part of the address after the
#and has no URL of its own.
What your browser sends
No analytics, no advertising, no cookies, no third-party scripts. Static
files only. Your search never reaches a server — it lives after
the #, which browsers do not transmit.
The host, Cloudflare Pages, keeps ordinary server logs as any host does. We have no per-visitor analytics.
If you send us a message
Three forms collect an email address: a contractor enquiry, a bulk access or dataset enquiry, and the contact form. All are handled by Formspree, which forwards them to our mailbox.
- Contractor enquiries — we reply, and we pass the enquiry to contractors who are on the register so they can respond. That is the point of the form, and it says so above the button. We do not sell lists, and we pass nothing on if you tell us not to.
- Bulk and dataset enquiries — we reply and keep the exchange while it is live.
If this is your business
Your registration is a public record and we republish it as L&I does. If a page implies more than the source supports — in particular about a suspension, whose reason we never have — write to us and we will fix the wording.
